The BEST Celebrity Makeup Tutorials

Few things are more interesting to the makeup advocate than discovering celebrity beauty secrets. To make that a little easier for you, here’s our pick of the BEST celebrity makeup tutorials.

Rewrite the Rules with Rihanna

Going for blue eyeshadow and a bold red lip is crazy, right? Not by billionaire Rhianna’s rules! The beauty mogul and singing sensation (she’s also an actress if you didn’t know) takes you step-by-step through the makeup look she wore on her video for Wild Wild Thoughts using her billion-dollar Fenty Beauty makeup range. We had to try the look just to prove it only looks good on RiRi and guess what? We surprisingly love the look. Rhianna makes makeup application look easy and if you follow her rules then you will too.

Express Yourself with Marc Jacobs

For too many reasons to mention here, our favourite, by far, is Marc Jacob’s “Too-Torial”. Firstly, you can’t help but love Marc’s passion for creativity. Secondly, his consistent expression of his truest self makes you feel a little bit braver to do the same. Thirdly, he wears leopard-print skin, pearls, red glittery nails and lastly, he calmly tells any haters to simply unfollow him, he really doesn’t give an F. We adore him.

His perfectly clear message is that beauty is not about perfection. It’s about just doing it (yes, he quotes Nike). That in itself is inspiring and confidence giving. His persona is infectious and makes you want to go and put your best clothes and makeup on…because why not? He tells us – asking yourself ‘why not?’ is a life philosophy he follows after being inspired by Diana Vreeland.

Press play now, you won’t regret it – it’s not about technical skills! He heavily smudges metallic gold hues all over his eyes with his fingers, but what you come away with is worth way more than another perfect eyeshadow look.

Get smokey-eye confident with Cassie

Cassie proves she doesn’t need a ‘glam team’ to achieve her night-time makeup look. Watch with awe how her slapdash application of Kohl liner to her upper lash line ends up as the perfect smokey eye.

Additionally, having healthy doses of honey throughout the tutorial to soothe her sore throat, she’ll convince you to try honey the next time your throat hurts, as well as immediately running upstairs to smoke up your eyes and go out to show them off.

Thanks for the confidence, Cassie.

Learn 90’s Bollywood beauty techniques with Sonam Kapoor.

With natural ‘movie star’ beauty, actress Sonam Kapoor begins her makeup tutorial for Vogue Beauty Secrets wearing zero makeup.

She lets you know that despite it looking good on others, she avoids Botox and fillers because they “show up on camera” so she “looks after her skin carefully” instead. Furthermore, she attributes healthy habits such as drinking plenty of water, green juices and ditching sugar and alcohol to her glowing skin.

Additionally, she explains that due to her skin tone having both pink and yellow undertones, she is yet to find a suitable colour foundation. So, for this reason, she uses colour correcting techniques.

It should be noted that research by Superdrug in 2019 revealed that two-thirds black and Asian women do not feel that high-street brands cater for their beauty needs. This led to the company’s decision to only stock foundations that come in a minimum of 20 different shades. We love you Superdrug!

Kapoor chooses a dramatic red lip using Dragon Girl lip pencil by Nar’s, stating “I feel like I can conquer the world when I wear red lips”. Completing the glamourous Indian makeup look with “a little bit of sindoor” applied just at the beginning of her parting and a Bindi (2 of the 16 reserved notes for married women in Indian culture). Time for a Bollywood binge…

Let Kylie Jenner guide you through her extensive makeup routine

You might just end up supporting Kylie Jenner’s  ‘self-made’ billionaire title after watching her ‘guide to lips, brows and confidence’, where she details her extensive routine for Vogue Beauty Secrets. She perfectly applies lip liner with her eyes closed, and with skills like that, it’s no surprise the self-proclaimed queen of lip liner built her billion-dollar beauty empire Kylie Cosmetics (she sold 51% of her company to Coty last year for $600 million).

Furthermore, she gives you an insight into her life that you’ll find interesting despite the millions of episodes of KUWTK. Moreover, she lets you know her favourite makeup products that go beyond Kylie Cosmetics and KKW Beauty. You’ll discover she doesn’t actually need the talented makeup artists she keeps at her side. Go Kylie!
